Sclerotherapy uses a sclerosing solution to seal the veins closed, or to cause the veins to be sclerosed. The sclerosed veins are reabsorbed by the body and the body will create new paths for the blood supply to flow throughout the legs or affected area. With the improvement of blood circulation, your body will experience less aches, discomfort, and swelling.
During the procedure, a small gauged needle is used to inject the solution into the veins. Afterwards, it is recommended to wear compression socks to help compress the leg and to prevent future spider and varicose veins from forming. The areas that were injected can appear swollen and bruise due to being injected but will disappear over time.
