The Gap It Fills
Most skin tightening treatments work through the surface of the skin, which limits how much energy can be delivered and therefore how much change is possible. They are comfortable and require no recovery, and for mild laxity they are appropriate.
Surgery does considerably more, with a proportionate cost, recovery and risk.
Between those sits a large group of patients with laxity that is real but not severe — jawline softening, early jowls, loose skin under the chin, crepiness on the arms or abdomen. ThermiTight was designed for exactly this territory.
How It Works
A small probe is placed just under the skin through a tiny entry point after local anesthetic. Radiofrequency energy heats the underside of the skin and the fibrous tissue beneath it to a controlled therapeutic temperature.
Two things happen: existing collagen contracts, and the heating stimulates new collagen production over the following months. Because the energy is delivered directly to the target rather than through the epidermis, the treatment reaches tissue that surface devices cannot.
Temperature is monitored continuously, both at the probe and on the skin surface, which is what keeps a treatment this direct within a safe range.

After Significant Weight Loss
Losing a large amount of weight, particularly quickly, frequently leaves skin that does not retract. This is one of the most common reasons patients ask about tightening, and it deserves an honest answer.
Moderate laxity often responds well. Substantial loose skin — the kind that folds or hangs — generally does not, and no non-surgical treatment will fix it. If that is your situation we will say so and discuss what would actually help, including referral for surgical consultation. We would rather tell you that at the consultation than take your money and disappoint you.
What to Expect
- The treatment: roughly 45 to 90 minutes depending on the area, under local anesthetic. You are awake and comfortable throughout.
- First week: swelling and bruising are expected and can be noticeable. Most patients take a few days before they want to be seen socially.
- Weeks 2–6: swelling settles and early tightening becomes apparent.
- Months 3–6: the real result, as new collagen forms. This is a treatment that keeps improving long after you have healed.
Most areas need only one treatment. Results are long-lasting but not permanent, because your skin continues to age afterwards.
Important Safety Information
About FDA clearance: ThermiTight is an application of the ThermiRF device, which is FDA cleared and indicated for use in dermatological and general surgical procedures for electrocoagulation and hemostasis. We state this plainly because a number of clinics describe treatments like this as “FDA-approved for skin tightening,” and that is not an accurate description of the clearance.
This is a minimally invasive procedure, not a facial. Possible risks include swelling, bruising, temporary numbness or altered sensation, contour irregularity, burns, infection, and rarely nerve injury. These are uncommon in trained hands, and you should hear about them before you decide, not after.
It is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a pacemaker or implanted electrical device, with active infection in the treatment area, or with certain connective tissue and healing disorders. Tell us about every medication you take, particularly blood thinners.
Results vary considerably between patients, and skin quality and elasticity influence how well anyone responds.

Who performs the treatment?
A licensed nurse practitioner trained and certified on this device through the manufacturer’s program, taught by a plastic surgeon, under physician supervision. It is worth asking any clinic this question before booking a treatment that goes beneath the skin.
Is it painful?
Local anesthetic is used and most patients describe warmth and pressure rather than pain. Afterwards it feels like a deep bruise for several days.
How much downtime?
Plan on several days of swelling and possible bruising, longer for larger areas. This is not a lunchtime treatment.
How long do results last?
Typically a year or more, often longer. Your skin continues to age, so this delays and improves rather than stops the process.
Is it the same as a facelift?
No, and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling. It improves moderate laxity. It does not remove excess skin or reposition tissue the way surgery does.
Will it work on loose skin after weight loss?
Moderate laxity, often yes. Significant hanging skin, no. We will tell you which you have.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. It is often planned alongside resurfacing or injectables, with sequence and timing that matter. Since we do all of it here, that gets coordinated properly.
