What it’s made of — and why that matters
PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin. Your blood contains platelets and growth factors your body uses to repair tissue. Concentrating them and processing them into a gel gives us something with the consistency to add volume, made entirely of your own cells.
Two things follow from that. There’s no synthetic material, so there’s nothing to have an allergic reaction to. And because it’s your own tissue, your body treats it as its own rather than as something placed in it.
Where we use it
- Under the eyes — the hollowing that makes you look tired regardless of how much you slept
- Temples — where volume loss shows early and reads as gauntness
- Nasolabial folds — the lines from nose to mouth corners
- Overall skin quality — texture, tone, and the tightness that goes with age
The under-eye area is where we use it most, and it’s where being autologous matters most — that skin is thin and unforgiving, and a patient’s own tissue behaves differently there than a synthetic product does.
On its own, or alongside filler
Some patients want EZ Gel and nothing else. That’s a legitimate choice and we’re happy to do it.
Others get a better result combining it with hyaluronic acid filler — HA for structure where real volume is needed, EZ Gel for the areas where you want a softer, more natural correction and better skin quality. They do different jobs, and used together they cover more ground than either alone.
Which approach makes sense depends on your face and what’s bothering you. We’ll tell you at your consultation, including if we think you only need one of them.
What to expect
One session. We draw your blood, process it while you wait, and inject the same visit. Plan on about an hour.
Some swelling and bruising afterward is normal — you’re being injected, and the under-eye area bruises more readily than most. It settles over several days.
How long it lasts — and why that’s the wrong question
Filler has a shelf life. It’s placed, it gradually breaks down, and eventually it’s gone. That’s why the standard question is “how many months?”
EZ Gel works differently. It prompts your body to build its own tissue, so what you’re left with isn’t a product sitting in your face — it’s your own tissue that wasn’t there before. That doesn’t dissolve on a schedule.
What does continue is aging. Your face keeps losing volume the way it always would, so the improvement gets gradually outpaced over time. Most patients come back about once a year to stay ahead of it — not because the last treatment wore off, but because a year of aging happened on top of it.
Honest expectations
EZ Gel is your own tissue, which means results depend partly on your own biology. Two patients getting the same treatment won’t get identical outcomes, and we can’t promise the volume that a syringe of HA filler delivers — it’s a different material doing a somewhat different job.
Results also build over the following weeks as your tissue responds, rather than appearing fully the day of. If you want an immediate change for an event next week, this isn’t the treatment.
What it offers instead is a natural correction with nothing synthetic involved. For a lot of patients that’s exactly the trade they want. For others, filler is the better answer, and we’ll say so.
