IPL Photofacial in Corona, CA
Sun spots, age spots, freckling, uneven tone — the pigmentation that accumulates over years of living in Southern California and doesn’t come off with any product.
An IPL photofacial uses broad-spectrum light absorbed by the pigment itself. The treated spots darken over the following days, then flake away, leaving more even skin behind.

What it treats — and what it doesn’t
IPL is for pigmentation. Sun damage, age spots, uneven tone. That’s what it does, and it does it well.
It is not a wrinkle treatment. If your concern is fine lines or texture alongside pigmentation, IPL isn’t the right tool — Discovery Pico handles both at once, and we’d point you there instead.
We tell you which one you need at your consultation. Having both machines means we have no reason to steer you toward the one we happen to own.
What to expect
Three treatments is the typical course.
Downtime is about an hour. You’ll be red immediately afterward and it settles quickly — most patients come on a lunch break and go back to work.
Over the next several days the treated spots darken, sometimes noticeably, before flaking off. That’s the treatment working, not a problem. Plan around it if you have something photographed coming up.
A note on sun
IPL targets pigment, which means recently tanned skin is a poor candidate — the device can’t distinguish your tan from the spots you want gone. Come in without a fresh tan, and wear sunscreen afterward, or the sun undoes what we just did.
This matters more here than in most places. Corona gets a lot of sun.
Who shouldn’t have it
Not for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with an active infection or open skin at the treatment site, anyone recently tanned, or anyone taking a medication that makes them light-sensitive.
If you have melasma specifically, IPL is generally not the right choice — it can worsen it. That’s a case for Pico. Tell us if you’ve been diagnosed with melasma or suspect it.
